Adriana Montilla named FSC/Region XIV Newcomer of the Year

Bobcats loose in Quarterfinal

Nov. 16, 2007

West Palm Beach, Fla. - The St. Thomas volleyball season came to end as the No. 5 seed Bobcats lost 3-0 (30-17, 30-22, 30-16) to the No. 4 seed Northwood, in the Region XIV tournament Quarterfinal hosted by Northwood. The loss was the teams second straight making their record 8-22 and 5-9 in Florida Sun Conference games.

The team does have some things to build on as they make the transition to NCAA Division II with the rest of athletics at St. Thomas. Adriana Montilla earned the FSC/Region XIV Newcomer of the Year honors averaging 3.00 kills and 4.15 digs per game.

The team can look forward to her growth and the continued growth of Maria Roman who was named FSC Player of the Week for the week of September 19, 2007. She lead the team in kills with 218 one more than Montialla, and made 23 solo blocks second most on the team behind Ashlee Guerrero's 25.
