Bobcats Lose To Eagles

Oct. 27, 2007

Miami Lakes, Fla.--The St. Thomas University Bobcats (7-19, 4-8) lost to the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Eagles (16-13, 10-3) 30-16, 30-32, and 30-15 on Saturday. Both Julianne Rivera of the Bobcats and Marissa Gonzales of the Eagles led their respective teams in assists with 34 each.

Game one started and ended with Marissa Gonzalez serving the points for the Eagles. At one time she served nine straight points. The Bobcats tried to respond but could only get half of the score.

Game two was much closer though it started with the Bobcats trailing. With the score 19-17 in favor of the Eagles, Bobcat Caitlin Smith served to tie, then took the lead 21-19. The Eagles responded when Savannah Trakes serve made it 21-21. For the rest of the match it went back and forth before the Eagles won 32-30.

Game three was similar to game one with the Bobcats only able to get half the score of the Eagles.

Overall, Trakes of the Eagles led in kills with 14. Janelle Marinos led in digs with 12, though Bobcat Adriana Montilla was right behind her with 11. Eagles Alana Martinez led in blocks with four and Maria Roman of the Bobcats led her team with two blocks.

The next game for the Bobcats will also be their last home game of the season, on Tuesday, October 30 at 7pm against Palm Beach Atlantic University.
