Bobcats lose to Sailfish

Bobcats lose the battle at the net

Oct. 6, 2007

Box Score

West Palm Beach, Fla - The Bobcat volleyball team suffered a tough loss to the Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish losing in three straight games (30-23, 30-24, 30-26). Salifish Brittany Erickson's 13 kills, 11 digs, and 7 assisted blocks were too much for St. Thomas to overcome.

A major factor in the Sailfish (12-11) victory was their play at the net. They made 14 blocks during the match while the Bobcats (4-11) managed four. The Sailfish also managed to generate a better kill percentage over the three games 16.3 percent to 2.1 percent.

The first and the third games each featured five tie scores and two lead changes, while the second game had zero of either one as the Sailfish led from start to finish.

If Erickson played the vest volleyball during the match Adrianna Montialla's similar numbers must make her a close second. Montialla produced 13 kills, one assist, three service aces, and 17 digs.

Both Ashlee Guerrero and Karla Vargas also made key contributions for the Bobcats. Guerrero put together an offensive performance which featured 11 kills while Vargas put together a defensive performance which featured 13 digs.

The Bobcats play again October 9 at Barry University at 7 PM.
