Both tennis teams extend losing streaks

March 8, 2008

Miami Gardens, Fl. - Both Bobcat tennis teams lined up across the net from St. Joseph's, unfortunately for the Bobcats both teams lost. The Men's team (3-7, 2-2 in FSC) lost 7-2 and the Women's team (1-9, 1-3 in FSC) lost 9-0.

Jeremy Bache and Ricardo Marquez scored the two points for the St. Thomas Men's team. Bache won in singles play 8-6. He almost produced another point for St. Thomas in doubles competition, yet he and Ricardo Vasquez lost control of the game and lost 9-7.

Marquez won 4-6, 6-4, 12-10 in singles play. Like Bache, Marquez combined with Federico Acevedo and almost scored another point for the Bobcats. The score of their doubles match loss was 8-5.

The 9-0 loss for the Women's team was their third straight scoreless performance since winning their first match of the year against Warner Southern. Against St. Joseph's the doubles teams came closest to ending the scoreless streak for St. Thomas. Each pair lost 8-3. Natalia Ramirez came closest to winning in singles play for the Women's team, losing 6-2 and 6-2.

Both the Men's and Women's teams play again March 8 at home, against Webber International at 2 pm.
