Santana named POW for the second time

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - For the second time this season the Florida Sun Conference office announced Juan Santana of St. Thomas the FSC Player of the Week. He was previously honored the week of March 25.

Santana hit .417 on the week and had a slugging percentage of .667. He hit two solo home runs against Palm Beach Atlantic, while scoring three runs in the game. He averaged two hits per game with 4.8 plate appearances each contest. Santana scored eleven runs on the week and marked six RBI's. He also completed his only attempt at a stolen base. On the season he is batting .424 and leads his team in hits with 50 on the season.

Gina Guffanti was named pitcher of the week for the week ending April 1. Guffanti had a split week against two very tough regional opponents, shutting out Thomas and suffering a 1-2 loss to Northwood. On the week she had 13 strikeouts in 12 innings pitched, allowing only four hits and four walks. She had a 0.58 ERA in both games. On the season up until April 1, she had a 1.71 ERA with a 2-1 record.
