Bobcats split against Wbber International

April 18, 2008

Miami Gardens, Fl. - The St. Thomas University softball team split their double header against Webber International on Friday afternoon. They were shut out in the first game by the score of 7-0 but rallied back to win the second game 4-1. Gina Guffanti was the winning pitcher for the Bobcats by going 7 innings and striking out 7 batters. Koelly Kempisty was on top of her game with a .667 batting average over both outings.

The first game was a forgettable one as the Bobcats lost by a wide margin. Warrior's pitcher Kaysha Hillard pitched a great game by only allowing 2 hits, both by Kempisty. Meanwhile, the Warriors went on to score 3 runs in the 1st inning and 4 in the 5th inning to win the game.

It was clear that the second game would be different when the Bobcats scored 3 quick runs in the first inning. Guffanti would then go on to dominate the Warriors in her complete game. She only allowed one run in the 4th inning but it was quickly answered back by a run for the Bobcats. Cindy Castrillon had 2 RBI's in the win while Katherine Landress and Kelly Diebler each batted in 1.

After Friday's split the Bobcats now stand at 18-16 overall and 9-1l in the Florida Sun Conference. Their final regular season game will be at home on April 26th against Northwood at 2:00 PM.
