Bobcats steam roll the Edward Waters Tigers twice

Miami Gardens, Fl. - The St. Thomas University softball team picked up two wins Saturday afternoon against Edward Waters by the scores of 11-0 and 16-2. Both games were won by pitcher Katherine Landress who pitched a total of 8 shut out innings on the day. OF Monica Garcia also had a big outing with a .571 batting average and 4 RBI's over both games. The top performer for the Tigers was Detrich Reid who went 1-4 with 2 RBI's for the day. The Bobcats came out swinging in the first game with 5 runs in the 1st and 3rd innings. On top of that, Landress was on top of her game by not allowing a run and striking out 3 batters. Claritza Valle put on a great performance in the first game with a .500 batting average and a game high 2 RBI's. The second game started out better then the first when the Bobcats put up a whopping 10 runs in the 1st inning. The Tigers then held the Bobcats to 0 runs in the 2nd and 3rd but the Bobcats came back strong by scoring another 6 runs in the 4th inning. Koely Kempisty, who didn't have a hit in the first game, came out strong going 3 for 4 with a game high 4 RBI's. With these two wins the Bobcats improve their record to 17-15 overall and 8-10 in the Florida Sun Conference. Next up for the softball team will be a double header at home against Miami Dade this Tuesday at 2:00. |
