Bobcats wrap up regular season with a win

Feb. 17, 2008

Lake Wales, Fla. - The Warner Southern Royals and St. Thomas University Bobcats women's basketball teams squared, in a 50-58 win. The loss closed out the Royals (9-21, 1-11 in the FSC) regular season FSC and improved the Bobcats (15-9, 6-6 in FSC) for the season.

At halftime the score was 28-28. The second half began to mirror the first as the two teams exchanged possession of the lead or remained tied. That is until the Bobcats exploded offensively and stretched their lead to 11.

The Royals would remain feisty and eventually dwindled the Bobcat lead down to four, with 1:32 left on the game clock. Perfect four-for-four free-throw shooting by the Bobcats prevented a Royals rally.

Carissa Staiano led the Bobcats in scoring with 13 points. The Royals held conference leading scorer Cindy Castrillon to only 10 points, six short of her league leading average.
