Dale Arendse has a huge game

Oct. 16, 2007

Box Score

Tampa, Fla - Dale Arendse lifted the St. Thomas Bobcats past the University of Tampa Spartans with two first half goals. The Spartans would not give up in the second half but the Bobcats would prevail 2-1.

Arendse's first goal came after an excellent solo effort which allowed him to score on Tampa goalkeeper Kevin St. John in the 24th minute. St. John would come out of the game soon after to be replaced by Ryan Thompson.

The change at goal kept St. Thomas (3-10-1 FSC 0-7) from scoring for a little over 14 minutes until Jaisen Labrada set Arendse up for his second goal of the game. Ricardo Cardoso scored the only goal for Tampa (8-5) after a cross by Pascal Milien.

Arendse's accurate foot, scoring his two goals on three shots was especially important for St. Thomas because as a team they were out shot by Tampa 21 to seven. Diego Villagos played a very important role in the Bobcat victory as well making four saves.

The Bobcats play again October 20 away, against Savannah College of Art and Design at 3 PM.
