It's time for another addition of Gene's Team, the weekly roundup of the standout athletes here at St. Thomas University. The Men's Basketball Team had a mediocre week losing to Warner Southern but won a close battle with SCAD. The Women's Basketball team did not have the best week ever losing two games to SCAD and Edward Waters but still found a way win at Palm Beach Atlantic.
- Tracy Razz: Razz makes the team this week for his effort against Warner Southern and SCAD. Against Warner Southern the Bobcats struggled shooting 37% from the field but Razz did the best he could to try and keep the Bobcats in the game by scoring 15 points and shooting 50% from the field. Razz also nailed two free throws that sealed the win against SCAD with only a few seconds remaining. He will get another shot at beating Warner Southern on February 13th at home.
- Antonio Jones: Jones makes the team for being the team's main scoring option this week. The former Florida Sun Conference Player of the Week averaged 19.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 2 steals over the past week. The way Jones has been leading his team this season he may find himself on this team plenty of times. The Men's Basketball team will play their next game at home this Wednesday against Florida Memorial.
- Francesca Dernocelley: Dernocelley earned her spot for her hard work in the front court. She averaged 7.6 rebounds a game and totaled 12 rebounds and 15 points against SCAD. She also had an amazing defensive performance against Edward Waters with 5 blocks and 3 steals.
- Cindy Castrillon: Castrillon did not have the best week of her college career but she did have a solid performance against Palm Beach Atlantic. She scored a team high 18 points and also dished out 4 assists. Castrillon's performance included three 3-pointers that sealed the Lady Bobcat's only win of the week. The Women's Basketball team starts their four game home stand this Saturday against Florida Memorial.
