Bobcats Win a Close One Against the Warner Southern Royals

Feb. 13, 2008

Box Score

Miami Gardens, Fl. - The St. Thomas Men's Basketball Team won a tight game Wednesday night against the Warner Southern Royals 61-58. Antonio Jones scored a game high 28 points which included a game winning 3-pointer with 0.4 seconds remaining. The leading scorer for the Royals was Preston Adams with 18.

The first half was close but in the Royals favor. They shot the ball very efficiently going 13-19 in the first half and shooting 50% from behind the arc. The Bobcats kept their patience and stuck to the game plan. Cesar Jacob Chavez stole the ball 3 times which helped the Bobcats force 12 first half turnovers. They could never find the lead but kept the score close. The Bobcats were able to keep the Royals within 2 points at the end of the half.

The Bobcats came out in the second half with their heads high. Their first half patience paid off when the Royals' hot hand started to cool. Their shooting percentages dropped dramatically and the Bobcats were able to take the lead with about 13 minutes remaining. From there on out it was a tough and physical game in which neither team could pull away. With confidence, Jones was able to put the game in his hands and sank a dramatic last second 3-pointer.

Antonio Jones was not the only player to have a solid performance. Patrick Loiussaint played very efficiently shooting 100% from the field and pulling down a team high 6 boards. Ian Gregory shot an excellent 4-5 from the field and grabbed 5 rebounds.

This win puts the Bobcats at 9-15 and 3-8 in the Florida Sun Conference. This Saturday the St. Thomas Men's Basketball Team will play SCAD at 4:00 PM in their final home game of the season. Make sure you come out and root for your St. Thomas Bobcats!
