Bobcats lose 2nd in a row

Box Score

Miami Gardens, Fla - The Webber International Warriors made the road trip to play the St. Thomas University Bobcats worth it as they defeated the Bobcats 79-71. During the game the Warriors (7-16, 2-6 in FSC) moved the ball better than the Bobcats (8-13, 2-6 in FSC) resulting in better shots and a better field goal percentage.

The Warriors totaled 10 more assist than the Bobcats and shot 57 percent while the Bobcats connected on 36 percent of their field goal attempts. Michael Floyd benefited from the ball movement leading the Warriors in scoring with 17 and also created for many of his teammates totaling five assists.

Ceser Jacob Chaves put together a double-double for the Bobcats scoring 20 points and controlling eleven rebounds. Both were game highs for each category. His totals came after starting the game missing five of his first six shots.

The pace of the game and solid Bobcat defense prevented the Warriors from stretching the lead too far and by half time the score was tied 36-36. A half could not be played much closer. The largest lead by either team was six by the Warriors, the score was tied five times, and the lead changed eight times.

The second half was the exact opposite as the Warriors relinquished the lead to the Bobcats one time in the half. Catching fire for the Warriors in the half and making a Bobcat comeback difficult was Jermaine Miller. He ended the game with 15 points.

Despite shooting 36 percent from the field the Bobcats remained within striking distance of the Warriors for the entire game never trailing by more than 10. They were able to do this because of 11 more trips to the free-throw line than the Warriors.

The aggressive Bobcat offense which featured several drives to basket produced four players with double-digit points. Antonio Jones was the team's second leading scorer with 16, Tracy Razz scored 11, and Alex Carratala scored 10. His points came during limited playing time because a hard foul after a steal limited his mobility. The Bobcats play again February 7, at 7 PM on the road against Embry-Riddle.
