Bobcats split series against Northwood Seahawks

April 26, 2008

Box Score

Miami Gardens, Fl. - The St. Thomas University baseball team split their double header against Northwood University this past Friday by losing the first game 11-0 and winning the second 4-3. Daylan Gil earned the win by pitching the final inning of the second game. Anthony Paniagua was the Bobcats best hitter going 8-4 with 1 run.

The first game was tough to watch for Bobcat fans as the Seahawks put up 11 un-answered runs on the board. The Bobcats could not crack Seahawk pitcher Jonathan Velazquez who put on a nearly flawless performance. He earned the win while Bobcat pitcher Mauricio Rodriguez received the loss.

The second game was a much different story thanks to Johnny Montoya. He pitched 9 innings, only allowed 2 earned runs, and struck out 8 batters. The Bobcats put up 2 runs in the 4th inning and the game seemed to be over until the Seahawks tied the game in the 7th to send the game into extra innings. The Bobcats kept their poise and scored a run to win the game in the 11th inning. Marlon Pascual was a big help for the Bobcats going 2-4 with 2 RBI's.

With this split the Bobcats move to 20-22 overall and 8-15 in the Florida Sun Conference. They will travel to Barry University this Tuesday to play their final game of the season.
