Bobcats crush Florida Memorial Lions

April 22, 2008

Box Score

Miami Gardens, Fl. - The St. Thomas University baseball team picked up a win Tuesday night beating the Florida Memorial Lions 9-2. The win went to pitcher Danny Gonzalez who struck out 5 batters while only allowing 2 hits and 1 earned run. Marlon Pascual had a great night hitting 2-4 with 3 RBI's.

It was an emotional night as the Bobcats honored seniors Adrian B. Gonzalez and Juan Santana for their great careers with St. Thomas. After the ceremony both players showed why they deserved to be honored. Santana hit a solo home run in the first inning and Gonzalez hit an RBI single in the second. Anthony Paniagua and DePhillip Mason also batted in runs in the 2nd which helped the Bobcats build a quick 6-0 lead in the first two innings.

For the rest of the game the Bobcats defended their 6-point cushion well. The Lions scored 2 more runs but the Bobcats answered with 3 more runs themselves. Kelvin Colon finished the game in a non-save situation and did not allow a hit over 2 innings.

With this win the Bobcats boost their overall record to 19-20. They will have a chance to get back to .500 tomorrow night at home against Barry University at 6:00 PM.
