Woolcock finishes career with a strong performance at Regionals

2006 Cross Country Season Review

Dec. 30, 2006

The St. Thomas men's and women's cross country teams had a short schedule for the fall season, however, that did not stop the work rate of the runners.

Senior Alden Woolcock finished his career at STU with another strong performance. He placed 11th out of 49 runners at the Region XIV Championship in Lake Wales, FL with a score of 27:45.43. He finished as the Bobcats fastest runner.

Senior Jamille Nelson bowed out with a good performance at the Championship, finishing with a time of 32:03.30 good enough for 33rd. Samantha Jacobsen had the best individual time for the women's team at Regionals. Her time of 24:06.57 placed her 22nd out of 46 runners.

The men's and women's squads did not have stellar team times in their meets in Gainesville, Tampa, Deland, or Babson Park this fall. The men's team had the best team time for both squads in the Regional Championship, finishing fifth out of seven teams.

Sophomore runner Arnoldo DeJesus and Junior Samantha Jacobsen joined two other Bobcats student-athletes on the Daktronics-NAIA scholar athletes' team.
